Audio Software: Audacity
Audacity is a free software, cross-platform digital audio editor and recording application. It is available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and BSD.
Audacity was created by Dominic Mazzoni while he was a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University. Mazzoni now works at Google, but is still the main developer and maintainer of Audacity, with help from many others around the world.
The latest release of Audacity is 1.3.12, a beta, released on 1 April 2010. As of 20 October 2009, it was the 6th most popular download from SourceForge.net, with 63 million downloads. Audacity won the SourceForge.net 2007 Community Choice Award for Best Project for Multimedia.

iTunes is a free application for your Mac or PC. It organizes and plays your digital music and video files on your computer and is fully compatible with all apple media (iPod touch, iPhone, Apple TV etc.)
Connected within iTunes is a Internet accessible "iTunes Store", where you can purchase over 13 Million high-quality songs ranging between 69¢-$1.29 each.
iTunes allows you to edit and personalise your own library of music,your able to import your CD collection to iTunes and create your own playlists.

Audio Software
Audio software, like all Computer/Application Software is intangible, meaning it cannot be touched. There are a large number of different Audio Software's and each Audio Software serves a different purpose and is used for different processes. For example "iTunes" is an audio application used for organising audio files while,"WavePad" is an Audio Editing Software. There are many different Audio Software's and i will discuss these furthermore in my blog.
